The creative process

Leonardo da Vinci kept extensive notes about his wonderings, questions, to-do lists, experiments, observations, and reflections.

He was an astute observer of nature, light, shadow, and seemingly endlessly curious about the human body.

His observations of nature and studies of cadavers informed his painting.

And he also combined his imagination with his observations to innovate new methods in art.

One of the things he wrote in his journals is that “reality should inform but not constrain.”

That’s how it is with living a created life as well.

Reality should inform but not constrain.

A default life allows reality to constrain.

But a created life knows that reality is just an input.

Bring in other inputs like expansive thinking, imagination, and a willingness to run experiments, and then then life really is created.

Where are you allowing reality to constrain your life?

What other input do you need to bring into the mix so you can begin to create your life?

I’d love to know.

Love,

Audrey
